PEILIN LI · LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
A broader perspective on your garden.
My foundation combines landscape architecture at Beijing Forestry University, design technology at Harvard GSD, and an artist’s eye. My experience reaches from parks and waterfronts to the Japanese-inspired garden I designed and brought to life at home. Today, my growing practice focuses on residential gardens in California’s Bay Area.

At Turenscape, I worked with Kongjian Yu on landscape projects, with experience spanning site research, hydrology, master planning, and detailed design.
Yu: 2023 Oberlander Prize laureate ↗In Yufan Zhu’s studio, I contributed to waterfront landscape design for a city project in Ningbo, developing ideas through plans, sections, models, and perspectives.
Xiangrong Wang was my undergraduate design teacher at Beijing Forestry University—part of the landscape education that established my approach to space and site.
At Sasaki, I contributed to projects across recreation, hospitality, and public landscapes, including a conceptual master plan for Wynn Las Vegas Resort.
Sasaki: 2007 ASLA Landscape Architecture Firm Award ↗My project experience spans parks, waterfronts, residential gardens, and interactive landscapes. I have contributed from early concepts through design development, working with site research, planting, built details, and 3D visualization.
At Design Distill, I developed my visualization skills; at leFUN, I explored landscape data, interactive spaces, and location-based AR. This breadth helps me connect the design idea with how a place is seen, used, and ultimately made.

DESIGNED, BUILT & LIVED IN
I took my own Japanese-inspired garden from the first layout through construction, personally overseeing planting, material selection, and the details on site.
Being both the designer and the homeowner made every decision tangible. I cared about how an idea would be built, how materials would meet, and how the garden would feel in everyday life. That same attention informs the work I bring to clients.

From reading a site to visualizing an idea, these experiences shape how I design today. The work below reflects my contributions within each studio’s team.
Landscape Designer
At Turenscape, I worked with Kongjian Yu on landscape projects. My work on the Tongzhou Sub-center project included site surveys, hydrology research, master planning, detailed landscape design, and physical models. My work also included concepts, drawings, and 3D visualization for a landscape project in Yangzhou, and bridge design and visualization for Rudong Park.
That experience informs how I connect a garden’s layout with its terrain, water, circulation, and smaller built details.
Landscape Design
At Sasaki, I contributed to a skateboard park design for Shanghai Hongkou Stadium, a conceptual master plan for Wynn Las Vegas Resort, sectional perspectives and diagrams for the Buji River in Shenzhen’s Luohu district, and cultural research for Chengdu Tianfu Olympic Sports City.
Working across recreation, hospitality, and public landscapes helped me think about how activities, movement, and local character can shape a space.
Architectural Visualization
My work at Design Distill focused on 3D modeling, rendering, and image post-production. It developed my ability to communicate the atmosphere of a place through light, materials, planting, and composition.
I bring that visual clarity into design reviews, so we can discuss how your garden might look and feel while there is still room to refine it.
Interactive Landscape Design
At leFUN, I worked on data processing and visualization for Beijing’s green-space system, interactive landscape design for Zibo Runway Park and Haidian-Tech Park, and a location-based AR app for Beijing Sunpark.
These explorations sharpened my interest in how people discover and interact with a landscape—an approach I bring to paths, gathering places, and everyday garden routines.
Design
For a city design project in Ningbo, I contributed to waterfront landscape design, 3D models, plans, sections, perspective renderings, and presentation graphics.
Moving between plans, sections, and eye-level views helps me consider a garden both as a whole and as a place you experience on foot.
Design
At reMIIX, I contributed physical models and facade design to the Wanwanshu Villa project, alongside site surveys and measurements for An’s house.
This residential work reinforced the value of careful measurement and of considering outdoor spaces in relation to the home’s proportions, openings, and materials.
Tourist Areas Planning Assistant
For the Mulan Tourism Planning project, I supported preliminary research, case studies, and diagram development.
Research remains part of my design process: understanding the setting and the people who use it before deciding what a place should become.
Landscape Design
I contributed preliminary research and park design to the Meishan Sport Center competition, exploring the landscape around a setting for recreation.
That experience adds to the way I consider outdoor spaces for movement, play, and moments of rest.
