RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPE / CALIFORNIA
The Quiet Crossing
An overgrown lawn becomes a Japanese-inspired garden of stone, water, and planting. A small timber bridge invites you to take the longer way home.

01 / THE STARTING POINT
Keep the familiar. Change the experience.
The mature trees and existing pergola already give the space its character. Rather than start from a blank slate, the design works beneath this canopy, turning the lawn into a sequence of paths, planted islands, and places to pause.
02 / THE DESIGN IN VIEW
A drawing becomes a place.
A timber bridge gives the garden a focal point. Stepping stones slow the journey; gravel, water, and planted edges make that journey feel different at every turn.

These are corresponding design and completed views, photographed from different camera positions. They show how the ideas translate into a real garden.
03 / INTO THE DETAILS
Quiet above. Considered below.
The visible water feature depends on the work underneath. Design drawings connect the section, ground build-up, and concealed chamber; construction records show the plan moving onto the ground.
04 / THE GARDEN, LIVED IN
A place to slow down.
The original canopy and pergola remain. Around them, the bridge, water, planting, and stone create new views and small reasons to linger.

Photographs and film stills document the completed garden. Design studies and construction excerpts are labeled separately.
